Welcome to Little Lions Waldorf Child and Family Centre

We welcome you to this virtual tour of Little Lions Waldorf Child and Family Centre and we hope that one day we will have a chance to meet you in person. Our centre was the first Waldorf Early Childhood Centre in North America. Since its inception in 1984, we have worked to fulfill our mandate of providing high quality care according to the views of Rudolf Steiner and the principles of Waldorf education.

We strive to create an atmosphere that is beautiful, calm and welcoming, where children are invited daily to participate in meaningful tasks and creative experiences. Movement features prominently as does free play and the development of imagination.

We know that young children learn by imitation and for that reason, our dedicated staff strive to be worthy of imitation in thought, word and deed. In our family friendly early childhood centres you will see children learning through direct experience - education of the head, heart and hands.

The world of nature is celebrated daily in our centres; in the décor, in the variety of nature based activities and in free play outdoors in our natural playgrounds.

Please browse our website to get a sense of who we are and then feel free to call our main office with inquiries or to arrange a tour.

COVID-19 and Childcare

Beginning September 1, 2020, all childcare centres across Ontario will be permitted to operate at full capacity. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions and awaiting additional guidelines from our governing bodies, there will be delays in reopening our programs. We apologize for the inconvenience; we understand there have certainly been changes in everyone’s lives, and childcare is no exception. We appreciate your patience as we gradually reopen our centres.

We take the health and safety of our children, families, and staff very seriously and are following all guidelines set out by government health officials. Some of these guidelines include, but not limited to:

  • grouping children and limiting interactions between groups;
  • medical masks and face shields for all adults in the program and requiring non-medical or cloth masks for children in grades 4 and above;
  • screening, limiting visitors, and recording attendance for contact tracing;
  • developing internal COVID-19 health and safety protocols; and
  • enhanced cleaning.
