As a non-profit, public art gallery, the Thunder Bay Art Gallery exhibits, collects and interprets art with a particular focus on the contemporary artwork of Canadian Aboriginal and Northwestern Ontario artists. The Gallery advances the relationship between artists, their art, and the public nurturing a life-long appreciation of contemporary visual arts among residents of, and visitors to Thunder Bay.

The Thunder Bay Art Gallery has been a supporter of the Big Boreal Adventure from its inception, in particular in the research and development of the plaques for the posts. The Art Gallery hosted a Drawing Frenzy where adults and children from across the city submitted drawings which were chosen for the plates mounted on the rubbing posts of the Big Boreal Adventure. The Gallery also accepted a rubbing post on site for this outdoor treasure hunt, and further hosted many of our special events including the project launch.  www.theag.ca.
